Svobodná demokratická škola Gaudi

Why Gaudi and what is my role here?

At the start of the year, I came across several European Solidarity Corps’ volunteering opportunities, but I was immediately drawn to this exact one.

Why Gaudi?

I’m passionate about education and when I read about Gaudi School I thought: “We share the same values, I want to volunteer there”.
I found Gaudi School an interesting place, because of its innovative teaching methods, and its strong emphasis on values like democracy, freedom of speech, and respect for individuality. Those values really resonated with me, and I knew I wanted to broaden my perspective and gain more experience in such an environment.
My role here involves not only teaching but also facilitating cultural exchange. And coming from a different background, I hope to bring new perspectives to the classroom while also learning from this special opportunity.

Education

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Oriental Studies from Akaki Tsereteli State University. This field focuses on the Near Eastern and Far Eastern societies, cultures, languages, history, and more. My keen interest in understanding the traditional and cultural aspects of different countries was one of the main reasons I chose this academic path.
During my university years, I was academically active and received various scholarships. I participated in several conferences, wrote essays on the historical aspects of relationships between countries, and organized forums on topics related to Oriental Studies. Additionally, I pursued my interests beyond my major by completing a minor program in International Relations.

Teaching Experience

During the past six years, I have taught school students and pre-school kids. I have worked in an English Learning Center, where I planned individualized class materials based on each students’ abilities and organized classroom lectures and coursework. Additionally, I have been a private tutor for several years, teaching children the fundamentals of Georgian and English languages. My experience also includes an exchange program in Cyprus, where I taught in a kindergarten, primarily organizing creative activities and classes for kids.

A little about me

I am from Kutaisi, Georgia, a small country with a vibrant and rich history, culture, and fascinating landscapes. I love exploring nature and walking outdoors, and I sometimes go on trips to sightsee. I have various hobbies and I focus on different ones at different times. I enjoy taking care of plants and growing my own vegetables. Additionally, I love visiting libraries to read books, articles, and even dictionaries, which I find fascinating. Music has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. I enjoy listening to different genres and attending live performances. Movies are also one of my greatest passions, especially Japanese films, due to their unique storytelling and visual aesthetics. As a very social person, I enjoy having conversations about intriguing topics. I have a particular interest in philosophy, psychology, and human behavior. I often journal and write to capture my thoughts and reflections. I also love taking photos, which allows me to appreciate the beauty around me, be present in the moment and cherish memories. I have a deep fondness for animals, traveling and learning.
