Sofia Sialiaki

Svobodná demokratická škola Gaudi

Why Gaudi and What’s my role here?

From the minute I saw the volunteer position in Gaudi school, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Being in a school where the kids are involved in the decision making and their thoughts and opinions are respected is literally a dream of mine, especially coming from a system where only the opposite happens. I wanted to offer my knowledge and also see how I can fit and work in this environment. Now, I work here voluntarily, sharing my culture but also learning the Czech culture and language and I am excited to see what happens next!EducationI graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece in 2022 as a Greek philologist specialized in Linguistics. I have studied English as a second language since I was 10 and I studied Polish A1 through Poznaň University.

Experience

Two years ago I started participating in Erasmus+ projects. It was an experience that helped me change for the better. Last year I did my Erasmus traineeship in the Netherlands for 3 months where I was part of a Linguistics research team. Since 2019 I have been doing private tutoring to kids regarding greek philological lessons such as: greek language and literature, ancient greek and history. This year I also offered theatrical private lessons for kids and adults.

A little about me

My name is Sofia and I am from Greece. I lived and studied in Thessaloniki all my life, making a detour in the Netherlands and now I am here. I really like linguistics and learning languages. I am also a dancer experienced in ballet, contemporary and hip-hop, I like to photograph and create and edit videos and I am also experienced in theater and theatrical improv since I was in a theatrical team in university. I love to travel the world and see new places and meet new people from other countries and learn more about their cultures, traditions and languages.
